> ET > Emotion Intelligence
Emotional intelligence "is a type of social intelligence
that involves the ability to monitor one's own and others'
emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use the information
to guide one's thinking and actions" (Mayer & Salovey, 1993:
433).
In other words EI is about being emotionally sensitive to
other's emotions in any media, a live program or life in general.
This is about respect to the audience by the creator or the
originator of the emotional stream. EI goes far beyond just
one emotional element.
EI is about sensitivity to emotions that has happened in
the past, and your imagination for the forth-coming emotions
in a continuous stream; this is about past, present and future,
all happening within an emotional frame of mind.
Emotions in any stream are related and cohesive, otherwise
they lose credibility.
